Beyond Einstein

About Me

Les Burgess: I was born in Manchester, England in 1926 and soon immigrated to New Zealand where I settled down after some travelling around. I have always been passionately interested in physics, especially Einstein’s relativity theory plus religion and economics. I had a traumatic religious experience around the age of twenty-one that changed my views and intensified my interest in Christianity and the origin of the universe. Firstly, I saw that every observer sees himself at the apparent center of the universe but I couldn’t progress further for many years, and then suddenly, as I became frustrated with the problem, I experimented with looking from the opposite direction, from the other side of the universe. Then things started to make sense. The whole point of relativity theory means we have to look at distant events from close at hand to get a proper perspective. There is no limit to the wonders of nature and every problem is solvable. I live in Auckland, New Zealand, in the family home with my son, daughter-in-law and three grandchildren.
